Quarterly Illinois Forum Meeting. Lunch is on your own, but feel free to bring it to the meeting.
Meeting location: Office of Greg Turza: 350 South Northwest Highway, Park Ridge, IL 60068.
Rather than a strict agenda, it will be an open meeting, with topics to be determined by the membership. Some potential topics include:
· Client maintenance programs: it's been some time since we heard from Vinnie Bonnazzoli, so whose firms have a client maintenance programs, how are they working, what do they look like, and how much are you charging?
· Customized beneficiary designations: is anyone else having problems having financial institutions accept them, and what are you doing to get around their objections?
· Personal Property Memoranda: are you putting that language in wills and trusts? Either or both? Any concerns about the will referring to extraneous documents outside the will itself?
· Are there any issues with WealthDocx language in wills or trusts? How much customization do you do of WealthDocx documents? What do you customize, and why?
· Trust Protectors: do you use them in your documents? When? How? Do you name a Trust Protector, or use the "Player to be named later" approach? Powers?
· Beneficiary-controlled trusts: do you use them? With or without an independent Trustee (Distribution Trustee)? Pros/cons?
· Business succession plans (do I really have to die at my desk?)
· Is reverse half a loaf dead? Partial cures and Half a Load strategy. Medicaid rules in general.
· Is it a best practice to cite the definition section of the statute in the DPOAHC?
We will also hear from the mega meeting committee, and hopefully we can make some decisions regarding that meeting so the committee can complete its planning for that event.
